I have 19 years finance experience across three different sectors of the industry; mainstream banking, vehicle finance and commercial building finance with a non-conforming bank.
These three different sectors of the finance industry have exposed me to a wide range of financial situations and solutions and allows me to assist first home buyers, clients refinancing to upgrade or renovate, clients investing in a rental property and people with different or challenging loan requirements.
Overall, you’d be hard pressed to find another mortgage broker with my wide variety of lending experience; this means I can look at your situation quite differently and will easily grasp alternative solutions for you that others may not see or know how to make work for you.
Loan solutions for every Customer
After nearly 2 decades in the finance industry, I have developed a network of contacts within various lender organisations. This, coupled with my high level of integrity, offers my clients and business partners access to a wide range of lending professionals. I offer not only my experience but my network of likeminded and experienced professionals committed to assisting clients to increase wealth via sound professional advice.
I have worked with a wide range of borrowers from first home buyers to the self employed requiring low documentation loans, and also with commercial property investors and vehicle finance customers. I have dealt with many different borrower situations to date but I also remember that each person’s situation is unique; every day I am faced with a new scenario and roughly 40% of them are not a straight forward home loan with 20% deposit and sufficient earnings to make it affordable. This is where my expertise comes in.

First home buyers
I have extensive experience working with first home buyers and more recently, working with first home buyers who may not necessarily have a 20% deposit. Due to my knowledge of the finance industry I am able to assist clients to work around this issue, particularly by arranging a second mortgage or working with guarantors to secure the funds to get them started. I have been able to secure home loans for a number of clients via these alternative options, where they might otherwise have been declined by banks or brokers.
New arrivals
I have recently seen a number of new immigrants to New Zealand who have assets and funds tied up overseas but limited cash reserves upon arrival. Proving these situations and finding a lender comfortable with these scenarios is a skill, one which I have mastered and enjoy using to find success for my clients.
Non-conforming loans
Working for a non-conforming lender has given me a solid base at assessing the needs of clients with requirements outside of ‘standard’ borrowing terms. This means I have the knowledge and experience to assist good people with bad credit or good business people with limited proof of earnings requiring additional funds for either their business or home.
During my time in the non-conforming lending industry I was fortunate to work in commercial building finance, providing me with the experience needed to determine the viability of return on investment equations within the commercial building sector.
Complex deals
Straightforward home loans provide me with the opportunity to refine my ability to deliver excellent service, which often exceeds my client expectations. However, I also really enjoy the problem solving side to complex home finance situations which require the investment of my time and commitment to the client for a successful outcome. Not all home loan applications I make on behalf of my clients are successful, but I do take great personal satisfaction in assisting my clients to move forward with their dreams and plans.
Challenging situations and limited cashflow options
Whilst working in luxury vehicle finance, I worked with people who had large asset bases and sometimes limited cashflow, making it challenging to prove their servicing capabilities. The largest finance deal I ever did in vehicle finance was $400,000 for the vehicle itself – that was lending more money for a car than I’d previously lent customers at the bank for their first home! The experience has helped me to better assist clients in similar situations looking for the right home loan.

Business community involvement
I see my role as a mortgage broker as a facilitator for property buyers, whether they are first home buyers or investors with large rental portfolios. My priority has been developing strong relationships with local lawyers, accountants and valuers on whom I can rely to offer my clients a seamless, stress-free property transaction. I have high levels of expectations from the relationships I have forged and take it upon myself to manage my networks of service delivery to my clients every step of the way.
Community involvement
I have two children under the age of three, and enjoy the involvement and new connections our young children have introduced to our lives, albeit around midwives, doctors, plunket and, let’s not forget the highlight of the week, music with movement! I look forward to the years ahead where I will become further involved with community groups connected with my children such as primary schools and rugby teams.

For the last 2 and a half years, since being in New Zealand, we have waited and dreamed and waited and hoped and waited to own our own house again as we did back in South Africa. We knew coming over here that we would be set back at least 5 years with the exchange rate being what it is. We did however decide last December to find a broker and just see how far on, or off track we were. He came back with not only one but a few proposals as to how we could go about achieving our goal, first we tried plan A and when that did not work, we moved onto plan B. Jerome kept us positive with his phone calls and emails with quotes such as “Don’t be discouraged by today’s answer as we will find something that makes everyone happy”. Jerome has been nothing less than amazing, he has not only given us guidance as to how we could go about things, he has gone a step further in giving us the best possible proposal where we could save costs and get the best option.
He has been very efficient with communicating and responding, he has kept us informed of every step he has taken and has been straight up with advice towards or against all our intentions. His knowledge of the market and every possible aspect of his profession, has led us to successfully being in the process of now purchasing the house we thought we would only be able to purchase in a few years time.
