About Frank Philp
First Home Buyers
It is hugely satisfying to help first home buyers achieve the purchase of their first home. Buying property, especially securing a good mortgage, is one of the most exciting events, but can be a very stressful and confusing process. I make sure my clients understand all aspects of the mortgage application and I also work with your lawyer, accountant and real estate agent to ensure you secure the best mortgage, always knowing where you stand.
"With extensive experience working in residential, business and commercial mortgages I have an excellent understanding and a wealth of knowledge to help my clients achieve the best outcomes for their financial situation."
Home Loan Pre-approval
I help my clients determine how much they can borrow, what their home loan repayments will be, and how much deposit they may need.
A Home Loan Pre-Approval means you can move quickly once you find the property that’s right for you. Pre-approval gives you better bargaining power, allowing you to negotiate a better price for the sale if there are fewer conditions and you can provide payment promptly. It also means you’re ready to bid at auction confidently.
Residential & Investment Property Loans
Extensive experience in the industry means I am well-placed to assist residential borrowers of all kinds, from self employed loans, up grading finance, re-financing or property investment loans.
I’m highly experienced at working with clients who have complex mortgage needs and that means finding the right loan to match both their lifestyle and property and overall investment goals.
"I was looking to purchase further investment properties to add to my rental portfolio but at the time I was unsure whether I had the capacity to increase my borrowings without undue pressure. I was really happy with the recommendations Frank made and the timely and orderly manner in which the mortgage proposals were presented to the lenders and gaining the subsequent approvals." Craig Fenwick, Tauranga
When the Bank Says “No”
If your bank has declined your mortgage application, that’s not necessarily the end of your property purchase dreams. It is possible to turn a ‘no’ from a bank into a ‘yes’ from another bank or one non-bank lender. If you have been turned down, it’s important to remember that different lenders have different lending criterea, which means that although you may not be able to secure a mortgage with one lender, you may well qualify easily with another.
Make use of my knowledge and experience today and find the right lender for you, based on your individual situation and requirements!
"I first met Frank in October 2000, over the years we have called upon his expertise on a number of occasions. Frank has attended to both our home and business mortgages and our insurances. His genuine interest in our on-going needs in today’s sometimes difficult environment has been greatly appreciated. Frank’s honesty and integrity makes doing business that much easier." Clive Wilson, Mount Maunganui
Home Loans for Migrants
New immigrants to New Zealand often face the same confusion as a new home buyer. Different rules, laws, processes and terminology can be confusing and frustrating so I guide my clients through each step of the way ensuring they understand all aspects of their property purchase, making the process that much faster and smoother.
Retirees and Home Equity Release Mortgages
More than ever before some of our aging population who are “asset rich” but “cash poor” need to access some of the equity in their residential property. I am experienced in Home Equity Release Mortgages and can assist you in determining whether it is appropriate for your situation.
Personal insurance is very important to obtain as a key element to taking on debt is managing the associated risk. As an approved advisor I take pride in ensuring my clients do not face hardship at times of loss or if life does not go as planned. Always remember as your Insurance Broker I work for you not the insurance company obtaining the best protection to meet your needs at the most competitive rate.
Based in Mount Maunganui, I provide home loan services to clients in Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Tauranga and Te Puke.
We arrived from England three years ago and both of us ended up becoming self employed. This meant that we had zero credit history in NZ and incomes that were good but hard to quantify in terms that the box-ticking minions working at Westpac could compute. We found banks were generally unable or unwilling to take us on as clients, despite having significant assets.
We were advised to talk to Frank Philp from Loanmarket Mortgage Brokers. Frank was able to see the bigger picture and was able to present our case to a number of lenders and as a result we had several offers of finance. Not only that, Frank negotiated concessionary rates that were better than we could obtain elsewhere.
In short we would not have been able to buy without Frank's assistance. Two years later we could have refinanced on our own, but Frank was again able to get us concessionary rates, Frank has now arranged four mortgage deals for us, and we'd recommend him to anyone, even people with a good relationship with their own bank.

I have used Franks services since moving to Mount Maunganui 15 years ago. He is the complete package. Professional, extremely knowledgeable and just an all round good guy. Whether it is finance, insurance or just someone to run some numbers by I wouldn't go anywhere else. Not only do I know he is on top of his game but I also know he puts my interests first and foremost. You wont make a wrong move with Frank on your side. Give him a call, you can't go wrong.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Frank Philp from Loan Market in Mount Maunganui for providing excellent financial advice when it came to refinancing my mortgage. With the assistance of Frank I was able to restructure and refinance my current mortgage with a new lender, taking advantage of lower interest payments and making my savings work for me. Further to that I was given sound advice on insurance matters which resulted in getting better insurance cover while keeping the premium the same.
Frank provided sound financial advice which was tailored to fit my lifestyle. I found Frank to be professional and well informed, as well as friendly and considerate.
Loan Market in Mount Maunganui was recommended to me by a friend initially. After working with Frank I am more than happy to recommend his services as well.
Frank, to put it simply and clearly, was amazing. He was available for us when we needed him, and gave us advice that we could understand as first home buyers. We couldn't have enjoyed his service more, and were so appreciative of his knowledge as a mortgage adviser and local mountie. Three months in we are happy with our loan structure, are aware of what to look to do in the future, and look forward to our next meeting with Frank at the 1 year point to re-structure. We were recommended Frank by friends, and would recommend him to anyone else wanting to buy in Mount Maunganui and beyond. His service was invaluable.
When we were looking to purchase a property after returning home from overseas we engaged Frank as we had been told he had lot of knowledge of and experience in the Tauranga market. We found Frank to be exceptionally helpful and responsive - especially given we forgot to tell him we were going to make an offer on a property before we had arranged our finance! Frank managed to organize everything we needed to complete the purchase of our new home in record time and also got us an extremely good finance rate. We would highly recommend Frank's support and advice to anyone looking to purchase property in the area.
