Rajeshni Chand, Client Services Manager
During her 18 years at BNZ, Rajeshni worked in business banking before moving into credit and compliance in 2006. During that time she worked alongside mobile mortgage managers, assisting with compliance, completing approvals and analysing deals. Rajeshni also specialised in complicated deals, spending many hours poring over lending involving mixed structures, joint ventures and multiple companies. She was sometimes seconded to credit management, which improved her overall understanding of personal lending.
Her career started in banking in Fiji over 25 years ago. In 1997 she and her husband left Fiji, with young daughter, and eventually settled in New Zealand, where they welcomed the arrival of their second daughter. Having worked in personal lending for so many years and seen her clients’ success, Rajeshni and her husband were inspired to invest in property. They bought their first investment property in 2005, and they continue to be active in the market. Rajeshni has undertaken several developments within her portfolio, including subdivisions and new builds – giving her a real insight into the highs and lows of development and residential lending.
“I know what my clients are going through because I’ve been through it,” she says. “It can be painful to do a development, but the end result will be worth it! It’s often helpful to give them a bit of perspective and I love that part of my job. When you see the results of all your hard work, it makes it all worthwhile.”
